    In this role you will have a unique opportunity to support people to achieve their goals and move on along their care pathway to more independent living, while developing your own specialist skills alongside training courses tailored to your personal development.

     

    In this role your main focus would be to provide safe, sound and supportive care to the people you support. You will have working relationships with the nursing and multi-disciplinary teams, and will play an important role in the lives of the people you support, as well as their families or loved ones.

     

    The support and care you provide will be respectful, dignified and caring, following each individual's person-centred care plan to promote choice and independence. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the leadership of the service, ensuring each individual is working to support people in the best way.

    All successful applicants will be required to become a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) in respect of regulated work with protected adults and regulated work with children. A PVG certificate contains all unspent and certain spent conviction information. It also contains any other non-conviction information that the police or other

    government bodies think is relevant. Disclosure Scotland continually monitor PVG scheme members' records for vetting information including criminal convictions that may affect their suitability to work with vulnerable groups.

  • Situated in a residential area of Dundee, Thistle Care Home with nursing supports up to ten adults with learning disabilities and complex needs. Thistle Care Home is a detached purpose-built building with its own gardens. The care home is split into two areas, both of which deliver 24 hour care and support within a structured environment:

    • Six en-suite bedrooms, with two communal lounges and a dining room, as well as a life skills kitchen, which enable people to prepare food for themselves or visitors.
    • A specialist suite, named Lomond, containing four en-suite bedrooms for people with autistic spectrum disorder and learning disabilities. Lomond has been designed specifically for the needs of people with complex behaviours, with the team specialising in supporting individuals with autistic spectrum disorders and learning disabilities. The people who live here will have access to a state of the art sensory room, separate outdoor space, as well as a shared dining room, kitchen and lounge.

     

    Within the grounds of Thistle Care Home is a separate building, Corbet Lodge, where people can enjoy a range of creative table top crafts and games, whilst also learning some valuable independent living skills. This area is dedicated to activities and supporting life skills in readiness for moving on.
