    So what will the job involve?
    You will undertake work that is meaningful to our service users and socially important within the local community – working for Danshell will provide you with the opportunity to support vulnerable adults – some of which may present with challenging behaviour - achieve their goals.

    The main focus of the role will be to provide safe, sound and supportive care to the people who use our service. You will have key working relationships with the nursing and multidisciplinary teams, as well as internal and external stakeholders, including service users' families and loved ones. 

    As a key member of the support team, you may be required to contribute to service user multidisciplinary meetings.

    As a role model to our service users, you will ensure the day to day care they receive is dignified and respectful and in accordance with their care plans.

    So what qualifications and attributes do you need?

    • We would welcome all applicants that feel they would be able to make a positive difference to people's lives,
    • You would need to be a compassionate, understanding and trustworthy
    • Health and Social Care QCF or NVQ or SVQ would be beneficial, but is not essential.
    • Previous experience would be beneficial, but is not essential.

  • Location Information
  • Based in Thorrington, Essex, The Orchards is a residential service supporting up to five men with a learning disability, and can also care for people who have complex needs and behaviours.

    The Orchards is a detached property on a quiet residential street. There is a large living space and well equipped kitchen-dining area for people to use. The kitchen-diner is the hub of the house where service users are encouraged to help prepare food and drinks for themselves and visitors. Developing self-care and daily living skills is a very important part of life at The Orchards.

    Externally there is a large, well-maintained garden, where service users participate in gardening and enjoy growing their own vegetables. The garden has a seating area for relaxing or hosting barbeques. The outside area at The Orchards also boasts an activities centre, where regular music and clay sessions take place.
